History:
The Stamford Hill Academy of Dance began in 2000 and was based in the mansion in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington.
At that time the school had around 30 pupils but as class sizes began to grow, it relocated to Stamford Hill, hence the name
Stamford Hill Academy of Dance or S.H.A.D.
Our current home is at the St. Mary's Community Centre on Defoe Road, Stoke Newington where,
three times per week, we run classes for just under 130 pupils.
We began dancing at the age of 2 and, at the ages of 10 and 13 we attended the
Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts becoming the best of friends and graduating at age 19.
On leaving, we both spent several years working professionally in the performing arts and,
having received Distinction for our dance teaching qualifications from the
Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing while at Italia Conti,
we were met with the opportunity of teaching dance in Stoke Newington and so our school began...
The benefits of dancing are huge - not only is it a great way to get fit, it also improves self confidence and co-ordination,
encourages self discipline and interaction with fellow pupils and,
when receiving exam results or taking part in performances, a sense of achievement and pride.
We know our pupils work hard but we also know they have fun and many friendships have developed through attending S.H.A.D.
Tap and Modern and, when we feel they are ready, pupils are entered for the I.S.T.D's Graded Examinations.
We also run a class called 'Production' which is a song and dance class.
Our classes take place on Wednesday's and Thursday's after school and on Saturday mornings.
at the beginning of each term - you can choose to pay for either half a term or a whole term in full.
Our price structure is as follows:
Half an hour of tuition per week: £5.50

and the next year is a year of show work, culminating in performances at the end of the school year.
